Lets be perfectly honest, footballers get payed an absolute shitload of money, for virtually nothing. They do a lot of hard training, play at the very most normally two games a week, and if they are good enough they also have to deal with a bit of a ‘celebrity’ status. Some of their wages are god damn bonkers. John Terry was offered £300,000 a week, a week!!!
The average sallary in England is around £25,000, a year, and that can be for a lot of hard work, with so little reward. Now it has to be said that their a fair few footballers who do give a lot to charities, Ryan Giggs of Manchester United and also David Beckham are two good examples.
But then there is what clubs are willing to pay just to get players, let alone pay them to play. Christiano Ronaldo left Man U for a record £80 million, that is simply ridiculous. You could most likely cancel world debt with all the football transfer fees of this day and age, it is just stupid, but the thing is that the trade cant exactly be shrunken down, because no club in their right mind is going to not want to get £30+ million for a player, just a single person. The average person in America is worth something like 4,000 dollars, or maybe its 30,000 dollars, it doesn’t matter because what the person is worth to the country in terms of average income and various other crap. So Ronaldo being ‘worth’ £80 million to what is really just 1 football club out of the many thousands in the world is just barbarically insane.
Whether these highly expensive and highly payed footballers are the best in the world or not surely it doesn’t matter. Here’s a good example, £100,000 a week is becoming actually quite a small salary per week now in the premier league. But lets say one of these 100K a week players is exactly 100 times better at football than me, well i would still happily play for a week in his place for a 1/100 of his salary – £1000. Ask yourself the same question – ‘Would i play football for just one week for £1000′. I think i know the answer, surely this proves how stupidly overpaid big team footballers are.
